How to Prepare for Your
Landscape Project

A major landscape renovation is an exciting journey, but it can also be overwhelming. Proper preparation is the key to a stress-free experience and a successful transformation. Here is our expert guide on how to prepare before our crews arrive on site.

1. Define Your Vision and Budget

Start with a clear understanding of how you want to use the space. Is it for hosting large dinners, quiet relaxation, or child-friendly play? Knowing your primary goal helps us prioritize design elements. Concurrently, have a realistic budget in mind. Our typical projects range from $25,000 to $150,000+, and knowing your investment bracket allows us to select materials and scales that align with your expectations.

2. Check for Permits and Locates

While we handle the heavy lifting, it's helpful for homeowners to be aware of property lines and any specific neighbourhood covenants. We will manage the utility locates (Call Before You Dig), but if you have private lines (like irrigation or invisible dog fences), please mark them clearly before work begins.

3. Site Access and Clearing

Excavators and skid-steers need room to breathe. Ensure there is a clear path (at least 6-8 feet wide) to the workspace. Move any patio furniture, children's toys, or portable sheds out of the construction zone. The more "blank" the canvas is, the faster our team can begin the structural phase.

4. Communicate with Neighbours

Landscaping is a noisy, dusty business for a few weeks. It’s always best practice to let your neighbours know that construction will be taking place. We pride ourselves on maintaining a clean job site, but a little heads-up goes a long way in maintaining neighbourhood harmony.

5. Prepare for the "Messy Middle"

There is a phase in every project where the backyard looks like an archaeological dig site. This is completely normal! We are digging deep to build a foundation that will last 30+ years. Trust the process — the beauty comes once the base is set and the first stones are laid.
